Mamelodi Sundowns marked a major continental milestone on Saturday when they hosted their 100th home match in CAF competitions during the PSL era, celebrating the occasion with a confident 3-1 victory over Saint-Eloui Lupopo at Loftus Versfeld Stadium.

The milestone, stretching back to 1994, reflects more than two decades of dominance, consistency and resilience in African football.
Their home record now stands at Played 100, Won 71, Drew, 25 Lost only four, underlining why Loftus and Lucas Masterpieces Moripe has long been considered some of the most unforgiving away venues for visiting clubs.
The club’s century of home fixtures includes several historic nights, none more emphatic than their 11-1 demolition of Côte d’Or from Seychelles in 2019.
That result not only remains Sundowns’ biggest continental home win, but it also set a new CAF Champions League record, surpassing Difaa Jadida’s previous benchmark after the Moroccan side beat Bissau e Benfica 10-1 in 2018.
Performances like these have helped cement Sundowns’ identity as one of Africa’s most dominant home teams, capable of overwhelming opponents with intensity, speed and clinical finishing.
Even in a run defined by superiority, Sundowns have suffered only four home defeats in CAF competition, with their heaviest coming against CR Belouizdad in 2021.
Despite their remarkable home strength, Sundowns continue to chase the one achievement that has eluded them for almost a decade: lifting the CAF Champions League title again.
Their last triumph came in 2016, and although they reached the final again in the 2024/25 campaign, the trophy narrowly slipped away. With their home fortress as strong as ever, the club’s next challenge is translating that dominance into another championship push on the continent.
