A group of 23 locally based players reported for camp on Monday, bringing together a strong contingent of domestic talent; unfortunately, the squad was dealt a minor setback when experienced defender Lebohang Ramalepe was released from camp due to medical reasons.

By contrast, the squad was encouraged when the international duo of Linda Motlhalo and Bongeka Gamede linked up with the team for the important clash against Morocco.

South Africa will face the Moroccans at Agadir, a port city along central Morocco’s Atlantic seaboard, at 20:00 CAT, on Tuesday, 2 December, and Coach Dr Desiree Ellis will use the match as part of her preparations for the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, to be held in Morocco from 17 March to 3 April 2026.

Banyana Banyana booked their place in the 2026 WAFCON after beating DR Congo 1-0 in a second leg qualifier (2-1 on aggregate), played at the Dobsonville Stadium in Soweto last month.

The South African senior women’s national team officially qualified for the continental tournament after a dramatic 1–0 victory courtesy of a lone strike from Thembi Kgatlana.
