With Dzenan Zajmovic now back on the market as a free agent, questions are resurfacing over whether Kaizer Chiefs could revisit their past interest in the Bosnian striker as they look to bolster their attacking options.

According to Siya sources, Zajmovic was previously on the radar of former Amakhosi head coach Nasreddine Nabi during his tenure at Naturena, with the forward’s profile closely monitored as Chiefs explored striking reinforcements.
However, that interest never progressed into formal talks or an official proposal, and Zajmovic ultimately opted for a move to Iran as his search for regular football continued. Nabi has since departed the club, with the Chiefs technical structure now under Khalil Ben Youssef and Cedric Kaze.
The change in leadership has introduced a new layer of uncertainty around whether the pair share the same assessment Nabi once had of Zajmovic. The striker’s availability could be appealing, particularly given his familiarity with South African football after his stint with TS Galaxy before heading abroad.
However, insiders indicate that no approach has, as yet, been made by Chiefs since Zajmovic became a free agent.
Chiefs’ recent recruitment of Flavio Silva has further complicated the situation. The lanky forward was brought in to strengthen their frontline and offers a different attacking profile, which may reduce the urgency to add another striker immediately. That said, with the league set to intensify following the AFCON break, and with goals often at a premium, the club could still be assessing options should additional firepower be required.

For Zajmovic, the door to South Africa remains open, with his fitness and free-agent status making him an attainable option for clubs seeking proven experience without a transfer fee.
Whether that opportunity leads back to Naturena, however, remains unclear, dependent largely on whether Chiefs’ current technical decision-makers see in him what their former coach once did.
