With Christmas over and the New Year ahead, Kaizer Chiefs are believed to be resuming training as they prepare for a tight schedule ahead.

With their first fixture of 2026 taking place against Golden Arrows late in January, an insider close to the club informed Soccer Laduma that the club would need at least four weeks of training before their first game of the new year.

“Training from the sixth is late. You can’t come back on the sixth when you play on the 20th. Two weeks of training is not enough. After a break, you need about four weeks to train. During preseason, you need six weeks.

The insider further revealed that the Soweto giants would instead begin their preparations ahead of their first match on Monday, 29 December.

“Four weeks is from tomorrow. Which is from the 29th. Because most of the most of them (players) didn’t go away. Every team will be back tomorrow; I can tell you. There’s no team that’s not going to be back. If you’re not back, you’re not serious. Or you don’t know what you are doing. Mamelodi Sundowns will be back tomorrow.

“I don’t know for sure, but I can tell you. I know they will be back tomorrow. Orlando Pirates will be back tomorrow. Chiefs will be back. All of those guys will be back. You don’t take chances. Yeah, I know you cannot take chances, not at this stage,” the insider revealed to Soccer Laduma.
