Ex-Ajax Cape Town stalwart Travis Graham, who announced his retirement from football toward the end of 2025 has now taken up a role with the parent club of his former team.

In a social media post, Graham announced he will be the Head of Football Operations for the Ajax Academy in Dubai.

“A New Chapter with a Familiar Badge. I am incredibly proud to announce that I have accepted the role of Head of Football Operations at AJAX Academy UAE,” Graham wrote.

“Everyone knows what this club means to me. To be able to take everything I learned as a player in the Ajax system and now pass it on to the next generation in Dubai is a dream come true,” the former midfielder added.

“We are going to create something special here, focused on high standards, real development and creating an environment to fall in love with the beautiful game,” he concluded.

Soccer Laduma reached out to Graham, and the Cape Town-born star explained what it means to him to represent the Ajax badge again.

“It feels like closing a circle, to be honest,” Graham said. “It’s incredibly special. Most people know that the Ajax philosophy is in my blood. I joined the academy in Cape Town when I was just nine years old and spent over a decade wearing this badge. It shaped not just the player I became, but the person I am. So, really happy to be part of this amazing project in Dubai,” he added.

Graham revealed that he had stayed in touch with the people at Ajax, and it was a role he moved into following his retirement.

“My role is basically making sure every department is working seamlessly, which includes day-to-day administration, logistics, and strategic planning for the academy, bridging the gap between coaching staff, players, and administration,” Graham explained of his new position.

The former Maritzburg United midfielder explained what he hopes to achieve in his new role.
