MC Alger 2-0 Saint Eloi Lupopo
Rulani Mokwena’s MC Alger secured their first win in the CAF Champions League group stages after defeating Saint Eloi Lupopo on Sunday night.
The two sides met in Lubumbashi seven days ago, where Lupopo snatched a 1-0 win and in the process grabbing their first-ever victory in the group stages.
After a scoreless first half, the Algerians broke the deadlock in the 53rd minute through Marwane Khelif, who opened his account in the tournament.
There would be no late show this time around for the Lupopo, as Alger made the points safe in the 82nd minute when Zakaria Naidji fired home.
Alger have now climbed to third spot in Group C, one point behind second-place Mamelodi Sundowns.
Simba DC 2-2 Esperance
Simba extended their winless run in group stages after a 2-2 draw against Esperance at the KMC Stadium.
Steve Barker’s charges raced into a two-goal lead in the first thanks to strikes from Shomari Kapombe and Yusuph Kagoma.
The Tunisian champions got back on level terms courtesy of Aboubacar Diakite and Kouceila Boualia, while Hamza Jelassi missed a penalty in second-half stoppage time for the visitors.
Pyramids 3-0 Berkane
Defending champions Pyramids edged closer to securing a spot in the quarter-finals after thrashing RS Berkane.
Goals from Ahmed Atef, Zalaka and Nasser Maher sealed a big victory for the Egyptian giants.
Pyramids sit top of Group A with 10 points, while Berkane remain in second spot.
Rivers United 0-1 Power Dynamos
Power Dynamos kept their knockout hopes alive after defeating Rivers United 1-0 on Sunday evening.
Kondwani Chiboni got the only goal of the game for the Zambians five minutes after the break.
Dynamos are now three points adrift Berkane in Group A with two matches to play.
