Robert Mugabe’s Wealth Was Managed By Disgraced Sex Offender Jeffrey Epstein: FBI Source Claims In Newly Released Files

Robert Mugabe’s Fortune Handled By Notorious Financier Jeffrey Epstein, FBI Claims

Robert Mugabe’s personal wealth was allegedly managed by disgraced American financier and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, a confidential FBI source has claimed in newly released United States Department of Justice files. The explosive allegation, dated November 27, 2017, resurfaced after a fresh batch of Epstein-related documents was made public in late January 2026, reigniting global scrutiny over the late financier’s links to some of the world’s most powerful political figures.

The claim places Zimbabwe’s former president alongside Russian leader Vladimir Putin as one of the high-profile figures whose finances were allegedly handled by Epstein, years after the financier had already been convicted of soliciting a minor in the United States.

FBI Source Makes Explosive Claim

The allegation appears in FBI records marked “Secret” and restricted from foreign nationals. The documents quote an unnamed confidential human source speaking to federal investigators in 2017.

“Epstein was President Vladimir Putin’s wealth manager and provided the same service for former Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe,” the source told the FBI.

The files were released by the US Department of Justice and later reported by the Daily Mail and People.

The source further alleged that Epstein built his fortune by helping elite clients move money beyond the reach of authorities.

“He made his money from charging his clients fees to hide their money offshore,” the source said.

No documentary evidence directly proving Epstein managed Mugabe’s assets has been published alongside the files.

Emails, Intelligence And Global Reach

The documents also reveal a web of correspondence suggesting Epstein had access to senior political figures long after his 2008 conviction in Florida.

Emails cited in the files refer to planned meetings with Vladimir Putin and discussions involving Russian officials and intermediaries.

In one message dated September 11, 2011, an associate wrote to Epstein about a forthcoming Russia trip.

“You told him you had an appointment with Putin on Sept 16,” the email stated.

Other communications suggest Epstein claimed links to Russian intelligence and boasted of “friends in the FSB”, Russia’s main security agency.

One intelligence source described Epstein’s activities as:

“The world’s largest honeytrap operation.”

These claims, however, remain intelligence assessments rather than proven facts.

Mugabe, Epstein And Unanswered Questions

Robert Mugabe, who died in September 2019, ruled Zimbabwe for 37 years. Throughout his presidency, questions over the scale and location of his personal wealth persisted, though no official figures were ever released.

The FBI source’s allegation adds a new and controversial dimension to those long-standing questions.

The released files do not indicate whether Mugabe ever met Epstein personally, nor do they provide timelines or transaction records.

All high-profile figures named in the documents have either denied wrongdoing or have not publicly responded.

Who Was Jeffrey Epstein?

Jeffrey Epstein was an American multimillionaire financier whose reputation was destroyed by revelations of his predatory sexual abuse of young girls and women. Before his arrest, he moved in elite circles, counting princes, presidents, and billionaires among his associates. He owned private jets, a New York mansion, a Palm Beach estate, and most infamously, a private island in the Caribbean called Little St. James.

His crimes came to light through brave victim testimonies. In 2008, he pleaded guilty in Florida to state charges of soliciting a minor for prostitution and served 13 months in a lenient jail work-release programme.

A decade later, investigative journalism led to his arrest on federal sex trafficking charges. He was found dead in his prison cell in August 2019, with the official ruling being suicide.
