Flight Mode Activated: Brian Bennett Pulls Off Impossible Catch At ICC T20 World Cup (WATCH)

Brian Bennett’s Impossible Catch Stuns T20 World Cup 2026

Flight mode was activated in Colombo on Monday, 9 February 2026, when Zimbabwe’s Brian Bennett produced a gravity-defying catch that left fans, players and the cricketing world stunned at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup. The moment came during Zimbabwe’s Group B clash against Oman, a match that ended with an emphatic eight-wicket win and a piece of fielding that many are already calling a tournament-defining highlight.

The International Cricket Council shared the moment online within minutes. The post quickly gained traction across social media, drawing thousands of reactions as viewers replayed the acrobatic effort again and again.

“He Took Flight”

The ICC captured the mood perfectly when it shared the clip on 9 February 2026.

“Brian Bennett took flight and took our breath away with a catch of the tournament contender,” the ICC wrote, as it directed fans to follow the #T20WorldCup action.

The governing body followed up moments later with another post.

“When Brian Bennett activated flight mode,” the ICC said, linking fans to the official video of the catch.

Cricket boards and fans joined in. Iceland Cricket reacted with humour and awe.

“Is it a bird, is it a plane? No, it’s Brian Bennett!” the account posted.

Social media users echoed the sentiment. One fan wrote:

“Catch of the world cup so far.”

Another added:

“Sensational Bennett.”

Catch That Turned Heads In Colombo

The moment came late in Oman’s innings at the Sinhalese Sports Club in Colombo. With Oman struggling, Nadeem Khan miscued a shot towards deep midwicket. Bennett sprinted hard for more than 20 metres, launched himself full length and completed a clean diving catch inches above the turf.

The wicket sealed Oman’s total at 103 in 19.5 overs. Zimbabwe later chased down the target with ease, reaching 106 for 2 in just 13.3 overs to win by eight wickets with 39 balls to spare.

Zimbabwe Shine On Big Stage

While Bennett’s catch stole the spotlight, Zimbabwe’s bowlers laid the foundation. Blessing Muzarabani was named Player of the Match after finishing with figures of 3 for 16. The ICC later confirmed his award in a separate post at 2:30 PM on 9 February 2026.

“Blessing Muzarabani was at his fiery best in Colombo and won the Player of the Match award,” the ICC said.

With the bat, Bennett also impressed, top-scoring with an unbeaten 48 as Zimbabwe marked a strong return to the T20 World Cup.
