Simba head coach Steve Barker wants to put the CAF Champions League disappointment behind him as he switches focus to the league campaign.

It has not been an easy start for Barker since he left Stellenbosch to join the Tanzanian giants. The Reds of Msimbazi have managed just three wins out of eight games, with two of those wins coming in the Mapinduzi Cup.

However, Barker remains happy with the way his team have performed this season, and with no more obligations in the CAF Champions League, his full attention shifts to the Tanzanian Premier League.

Ahead of their clash against KMC, Barker said his team have shown great commitment and a strong foundation has been laid as they look to kickstart their league campaign, Pan-Africa Football reported.

“The preparations are good, the players are ready, and we expect to fight to achieve the team’s goals,” the 58-year-old said.

Barker said the team’s sole goal for the remainder of the season was to win the league, which the club had not managed to do since the 2020/21 season.

“We have dusted ourselves after the unwanted CAF Champions League campaign. We know we have one match left in the competition, but our focus has shifted to the league title chase. We want to win the league title, and we must win our matches,” he added.

“You know Simba is a big club, and in a big club you have to win matches. We will do everything to start winning our matches and move up the table,” Barker concluded.
