MC Alger coach Rulani Mokwena has hit out at Mamelodi Sundowns’ Miguel Cardoso for his touchline antics during their CAF Champions League clash this weekend.

MC Alger travelled to South Africa for Rulani Mokwena’s first game back in his home country following his Masandawana exit.

The game a was do-or-die encounter for both sides as a win for either team would have been enough to qualify for the quarter-finals, and two goals from Brayan Leon were enough to dump Mokwena’s side out of the competition.

The game, however, ended on a sour note as Mokwena took issue with Cardoso’s celebrations after the game, and insinuated that it was an act of disrespect, Pan-Africa Football reported.

“I don’t want to talk about things off the pitch, because if Rulani walks across the opposition’s technical area, I know how many people would make a hullabaloo of that situation,” Mokwena revealed.

“The laws of the game prohibit any technical member from leaving his technical area, going past the fourth official and moving across the technical area of the other team,” he added.

The South African claimed that Cardoso’s actions were not only a sign of poor behaviour, but a violation of global footballing regulations.

“If that is not a clear sign of not only disrespecting the opposition, it’s a clear violation of not only CAF rules but FIFA rules,” the 39-year-old said.

“This has nothing to do with me. It’s a reflection on the person who left his own area. You have to find the reasons why that person did that and provoked, because it’s a clear provocation,” he continued.

The Mouloudia coach concluded that he remained professional through the game, despite the loss, and said it was “impossible to say Rulani was misbehaving”
