Manchester City 2-1 Newcastle United
Manchester City moved to within two points of Premier League leaders Arsenal with a 2-1 win over Newcastle United on Saturday night.
The Citizens broke the deadlock in the 14th minute when Omar Marmoush did well to play in Nico O’Reilly, who sent a powerful finish beyond goalkeeper Nick Pope.
The Magpies got back on level terms in the 22nd minutes courtesy of a neat finish from Lewis Hall, however O’Reilly restored City’s lead five minutes later with a towering header.
Newcastle thought they had equalised for a second time before the break but Dan Burn’s header was ruled out for an offside.
The Gunners can restore their five-point lead with a win against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.
Chelsea 1-1 Burnley
Chelsea dropped points for the second successive league game after drawing 1-1 with relegation-threatened Burnley FC.
The Blues took a fourth-minute lead courtesy of a strike from Joao Pedro after some good work by Pedro Neto.
The hosts were then reduced to ten men in the 72nd minute when Wesley Fofana was given his marching orders, before Burnley snatched an equaliser Zian Flemming in the 93rd minute.
Brentford 0-2 Brighton and Hove Albion
Brighton and Hove Albion moved ten points clear of the relegation zone with a 2-0 win over Brentford.
Goals from Diego Gomez and Danny Welbeck in the first half were enough to seal the win for the Seagulls.
Aston Villa 1-1 Leeds United
Aston Villa lost further ground on league leaders Arsenal after rescuing a 1-1 draw against Leeds United.
Leeds raced into the lead on 31 minutes courtesy of a sublime free-kick from Anton Stach.
Villa got back on level terms thanks to Tammy Abraham’s goal in the 88th minute.
