Day One Delivers Goals, Drama and Early Statements at the SA Indoor Hockey IPT

The 2026 South African Indoor Hockey IPT powered by Spar burst into life on Day One with emphatic victories, dramatic comebacks, and early championship statements across both venues.

The A Section is being hosted at University of KwaZulu-Natal Westville, while the B Section action takes place at Thomas More College.

In Pool A, defending champions Western Province secured a comfortable 5–1 win over WP Peninsula. National captain Jamie Southgate led from the front, while Malikah Hamza netted twice in a strong second-half display.

KZN Raiders overcame an early scare against KZN Inland to win 6–1. After conceding in the opening minute, the hosts responded emphatically in the second half to take control of the match.

In Pool B, Southern Gauteng began their quest for a first title since 2019 with a convincing 6–1 win over SG Witsies, Amber Fairon producing a second-half hat-trick.

Northerns Blues delivered the most dominant performance of the day, overpowering Mpumalanga 14–0 with multiple hat-tricks and braces in a ruthless display.

Northerns Daisies started their Women’s Pool B campaign securing a solid 5–0 win over KZN Inland B to open their campaign, while the KZN Mynahs delivered one of the standout scorelines of the day, defeating Mpumalanga B 13–0 in a commanding performance featuring multiple four-goal hauls.
