Man City Boost Title Hopes, Liverpool Run Riot

Leeds United 0-1 Manchester City

Manchester City kept their Premier League title chances alive with a 1-0 win away to Leeds United on Saturday evening.

Pep Guardiola was without the services of top scorer Erling Haaland, Omar Marmoush was chosen to lead the line.

City had to wait until first-half stoppage time to break the deadlock as Antoine Semenyo turned home Rayan Ait-Nouri’s cross.

The win sees Man City move to within two points of league leaders Arsenal, who host Chelsea on Sunday.

Liverpool 5-2 West Ham United

Liverpool moved up to fifth spot with a 5-2 thrashing of West Ham United at Anfield.

The Reds got off to a perfect start when Hugo Ektike found the back of the net after being picked out by Ryan Gravenberch.

The lead was doubled in the 24th minute as captain Virgil van Dijk got his name on the score-sheet by nodding home a corner.

The third goal arrived before the break when Ektike turned provider to tee up Alexis Mac Allister, who volleyed home form close range.

The Hammers did pull one back through Tomas Soucek after the break, but the Reds restored their two-goal advantage on 70 minutes thank to Cody Gakpo’s strike.

Taty Castellanos did bag a second goal for West Ham soon after but an own goal from Axel Disasi sealed the win.

Burnley 3-4 Brentford

Brentford returned to winning ways with a thrilling 4-3 win over Burnley at Turf Moor.

The Bees raced into a three-goal lead thanks to goals from Mikkel Damsgaard, Igor Thiago and Kevin Schade in the first half.

The Clarets, however, hit back through an own goal from Michael Kayode and second-half goals from Jaidon Anthony and Zian Flemming.

Brentford had the final say when Damsgaard completed his brace in the 93rd minute.

Newcastle United 2-3 Everton

Everton got back on the winning trail after defeating Newcastle United at St James’ Park.

Goals from Jarrad Brainthwaite, Beto, and Thierno Barry steered the Toffees to victory.

Jacob Ramsey and Jacob Murphy netted for Newcastle, who find themselves in 12th position.
