Zimbabwe’s Blessing Muzarabani Earns Spot in 2026 ICC T20 World Cup Team of the Tournament

Blessing Muzarabani Named in 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Team of the Tournament

Zimbabwe fast bowler Blessing Muzarabani has been named in the Team of the Tournament for the 2026 ICC Men’s T20 World Cup following a standout campaign that helped power Zimbabwe to one of their best performances on cricket’s global stage.

The lanky paceman was rewarded for his consistent performances throughout the competition, where he emerged as one of the most effective bowlers in the tournament.

Muzarabani was included in the prestigious lineup alongside several international stars, including Sahibzada Farhan, Sanju Samson, Ishan Kishan, Aiden Markram, Hardik Pandya, Will Jacks, Jason Holder, Jasprit Bumrah, Lungi Ngidi, Adil Rashid and Shadley Van Schalkwyk.

Outstanding Numbers With the Ball

Muzarabani enjoyed the form of his career during the tournament, claiming 13 wickets in six matches at an average of 14.46 and maintaining an economy rate of 7.88.

His impressive tally made him the joint second-highest wicket-taker at the event alongside England spinner Adil Rashid and USA’s Shadley Van Schalkwyk.

The trio finished just one wicket behind India’s leading pair of Jasprit Bumrah and Varun Chakravarthy, who each took 14 wickets during the tournament.

Key Role in Zimbabwe’s Historic Run

Muzarabani played a central role in Zimbabwe’s remarkable journey to the Super Eight stage of the competition — their best performance in the tournament in years.

The Chevrons signalled their intent early in the tournament with a memorable 23-run victory over Australia national cricket team.

In that match, Muzarabani delivered a match-winning spell of 4/17 as Australia were bowled out for 146 while chasing Zimbabwe’s total of 169/2.

The figures became the best bowling performance by a Zimbabwean player at a Men’s T20 World Cup, surpassing the previous record of 4/28 set by Wellington Masakadza against Scotland in 2016.

It also marked Zimbabwe’s best bowling figures against a Full Member nation in men’s T20 internationals, eclipsing the 4/18 recorded by Luke Jongwe against Pakistan in 2021.

Milestone Achievement for the Chevrons Star

During the tournament, Muzarabani also reached another significant career milestone by becoming only the third Zimbabwean cricketer to claim 100 wickets in T20 internationals.

He joins teammates Richard Ngarava and Sikandar Raza in achieving the feat.

Fans Celebrate the Pace Ace

Muzarabani’s achievements have sparked excitement among Zimbabwean cricket fans, with many taking to social media to celebrate the fast bowler’s performance and recognition on the global stage.

Supporters praised the towering pacer for leading Zimbabwe’s bowling attack and helping the national side reassert itself in international cricket during the tournament.
