Newcastle United 1-1 FC Barcelona

FC Barcelona rescued a 1-1 draw against Newcastle United in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League last 16 tie on Tuesday night.

Marcus Rashford started on the bench despite scoring a brace against the Magpies in the League Phase earlier this season, while Newcastle started with Anthony Gordon on the bench.

After a goalless first half, the opening goal arrived with five minutes left on the clock when Harvey Barners turned home Jacob Murphy’s cross at the far post.

However, the Catalan giants had to wait for the final kick of the game to rescue a point as Lamine Yamal converted a penalty in the 96th minute.

Atalanta 1-6 Bayern Munich

Bayern Munich are on the brink of qualifying for the quarter-finals after thrashing Atalanta 6-1 on Tuesday night.

The Bavarians were once again without star striker Harry Kane, as Chelsea loanee Nicolas Jackson started up front.

Despite Kane’s absence, Vincent Kompany’s charges opened up a three-goal lead, as Josip Stanisic opened the scoring on 12 minutes.

Michael Olise doubled the lead on 22 minutes before Serge Gnabry added a third goal with a composed finish.

Bayern carried that momentum into the second half as Jackson got his name on the score-sheet, before Olise and Jamal Musiala completed the rout. Meanwhile, Mario Pasalic bagged a late consolation for the hosts.

Atletico Madrid 5-2 Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham Hotspur’s struggles continued after losing 5-2 to Tottenham Hotspur in the Spanish capital.

The home side raced into a shock three-goal lead as Marcos Llorente, Antoine Griezmann and Julian Alvarez all scored in the opening 15 minutes

Spurs coach Igor Tudor then decided to substitute goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky in the 17th minute after making two errors, with Guglielmo Vicario brought on.

However, Atletico added a fourth goal through Robin Le Normand on 22 minutes before Pedro Porro did pull a goal back for the visiting side four minutes later.

Alvarez registered Atletico’s fifth goal ten minutes after the break, while Solanke gave Spurs some slight hope for the second leg after getting their second goal on 76 minutes.

Galatasaray 1-0 Liverpool

Liverpool suffered a slender 1-0 loss to Turkish champions Galatasaray in the first leg on Tuesday night.

The hosts got the goal as early as the seventh minute courtesy of a strike from Mario Lemina.
