Liverpool 4-0 Galatasaray (4-1 aggregate)
Liverpool progressed to the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League with a 4-0 thrashing of Galatasaray on Wednesday night.
The Reds got in front on 25 minutes when Dominik Szoboszlai continued his impressive season by firing home from the edge of the box.
The hosts were then awarded a penalty on the stroke of halftime after Szoboszlai was brought down in the box, however Mohamed Salah’s spot-kick was denied kept out by goalkeeper Ugurcan Cakir.
However, the Reds came out firing the second half and scored two goals in the opening ten minutes when Salah turned provider to set Hugo Ektike for the close-range finish on 52 minutes, before Ryan Gravenberch made it 3-0 a minute later.
Salah rounded off the scoring in the 62nd minute with a lovely curling effort for his 50th goal in the Champions League.
Barcelona 7-2 Newcastle United (8-3 aggregate)
FC Barcelona stormed into the quarter-finals after thrashing Newcastle United 7-2 at the Camp Nou.
The first half proved to be a lively affair as Raphinha, Marc Bernal and Lamine Yamal were on target after Anthony Elanga netted a brace as it ended 3-2 after 45 minutes.
Barcelona, however, took over in the second half as Robert Lewandowski netted a brace while Fermin Lopez and Raphinha also added goals to complete the rout.
Bayern Munich 4-1 Atalanta (10-2 aggregate)
Bayern Munich eased into the next round with a 4-1 thrashing of Atalanta at the Allianz Arena.
Vincent Kompany’s charges took the lead on 25 minutes when top scorer Harry Kane converted a penalty.
Kane completed his brace ten minutes after the break while Lennart Karl and Luis Diaz rounded off the scoring.
Lazar Samardzic netted a late consolation for the Serie A outfit.
Tottenham Hotspur 3-2 Atletico Madrid (5-7 aggregate)
Atletico Madrid booked their spot in the last eight despite a 3-2 to Tottenham Hotspur.
After losing the first leg 5-2, Spurs gave themselves some when they opened the scoring in the second leg thanks to Randal Kolo Muani’s strike on 30 minutes.
Atletico did level matters two minutes after the halftime break through Julian Alvarez, making it 6-2 on aggregate.
Xavi Simons put Spurs ahead on the night once again on 52 minutes but Atletico ended any hopes of a comeback when David Hancko equalised in the 75th minute.
Spurs did bag a late winning goal as Simons converted a penalty in second-half stoppage time, but Atletico had done enough to hold on for the 7-5 aggregate win.
