Ngezana starred in his team’s 1-0 victory over CS Universitatea Craiova in the SuperLiga in what has been a slow start to the season for the reigning Romanian champions.
FCSB currently sit 11th after 12 games played, with just three wins in the league so far, and it was a moment of relief for the former Kaizer Chiefs defender, who has not enjoyed his best season since moving to the Arena Nationala.
The defender was left out of Hugo Broos’ final FIFA World Cup qualifying squad, as he will serve a suspension against Zimbabwe, but the defender did not let the decision affect him.
The SuperLiga announced the team of the week for the 12th round of games, and Ngezana was the only FCSB representative in the team.
According to a Romanian publication, Hot News, Ngezana was chosen for the way he managed the game.
“He managed well the moments he was involved in. His improvement in form is also visible in the team’s results, with the red-blue team notching their second consecutive match without conceding a goal,” it said.
ProSport reported that Ngezana’s selection was on the basis of his successful defensive actions and excellent passing.
“Only two misplaced passes the entire match and only two duels lost 1-0 against Universitatea Craiova, a considerable contribution to the perfect defence against a team built eminently offensively,” it read.

“A total of 12 successful defensive actions for the African, the match’s equal leader with the Russian. Out of 44 filtered balls, he wasted only 3. A solid match, in which he was more or less proactive and inspired in his decisions, continuing his good form of late,” it added.
