Ghabbour family’s GB Corp stake rebounds above $350m

The Ghabbour family, one of Egypt’s wealthiest dynasties, has seen the value of its stake in GB Corp climb back above $350 million. The rebound comes as renewed investor confidence fuels a rally on the Egyptian Exchange (EGX), boosting shares of the Cairo-based automotive group.

GB Corp family stake gains $53 million

The family, which controls a 63.4 percent stake in GB Corp—has seen the market value of its holdings increase by EGP2.53 billion ($53.07 million) in the past 30 days. The sharp recovery reflects growing optimism about the company’s financial strength and long-term performance.

The recent surge follows a brief downturn between late August and mid-September, when the family’s stake value fell by about $46.31 million, slipping from EGP17.37 billion ($360.71 million) to EGP15.14 billion ($314.42 million). 

GB Corp family stake jumps $53 million

Founded in 1985 by the late auto magnate Raouf Ghabbour, GB Corp has grown into one of the Middle East and North Africa’s most prominent automotive companies. Today, the group remains under the close guidance of the Ghabbour family, who continue to play an active role in steering its direction and maintaining its market leadership.

Over the past month, GB Corp shares on the EGX have climbed 17.25 percent, rising from EGP21.45 ($0.45) on Sept. 23 to EGP25.15 ($0.53). The company’s market capitalization sits above EGP21.8 billion ($457 million), giving shareholders—especially the Ghabbours—a boost.

The family’s 63.4-percent stake has gained EGP2.53 billion ($53.07 million) during the period, rising from EGP14.65 billion ($307.68 million) to EGP17.17 billion ($360.76 million). The jump cements their standing among the wealthiest investor groups on the EGX.

GB Corp shares up 30.5 percent YTD

GB Corp’s performance this year has rewarded shareholders significantly. The stock has delivered a 30.5 percent return since the start of 2025. A $100,000 investment in the company’s shares in January would now be worth $130,530, a gain of more than $30,000 since Jan. 1.
