JOHANNESBURG, SOUTH AFRICA – OCTOBER 24: Tshegofatso Mabasa of the Orlando Pirates during the Orlando Pirates training session and media briefing at Orlando Stadium on October 24
With Orlando Pirates striker Tshegofatso Mabasa’s future at the club reportedly in question, Soccer Laduma has an update on the situation.
Mabasa has been missing from Pirates’ matchday squads in recent games, with the player not featuring in a league match since September.

Earlier this season, Ouaddou explained that it was a tactical choice to play without a natural number nine against Lupopo, but the 29-year-old has continued to not feature since this clash.
The Botshabelo native striker’s absence raises eyebrows, because Pirates have not lost this season in all the games Mabasa featured in and there have been calls from certain Buccaneers supporters for the club to use the striker more.
There was also a fan opinion that The Buccaneers’ current title challenge will only be aided by using Mabasa more.
With his contract situation at Pirates unclear, the Bloemfontein-born forward’s deal is expiring next June, the Siya crew has the latest on Mabasa’s future at the club.

“He is coming to the end of his contract at Orlando Pirates, and this is his last season, it is ending in June next year, which means he can sign a pre-contract in January 2026,” a source close to the situation told this publication.
“He has not extended at Pirates yet,” the source added.
Pirates are back in Betway Premiership action when they face Chippa United on 25 November.
