Adut donates food, bedding to 200 children at Gieda Orphanage

JUBA – South Sudan’s Senior Presidential Envoy on Special Program, Adut Kiir Mayardit, has extended humanitarian support to 200 children at the Gieda Orphanage in Juba, delivering food supplies and essential bedding to improve their living conditions.

The donation, handed over on Wednesday by a delegation led by Albino Kueth, included 200 bags of assorted food items, 60 beds, 100 mattresses, and 100 bedsheets.

Kueth said the contribution reflects the continued solidarity of the President’s daughter with orphans, particularly those whose parents served in the army.

“On behalf of Her Excellency Adut Salva Kiir, today we came to Gieda Orphanage to deliver humanitarian assistance. This is the second time we are here to support these children,” Kueth said during the handover ceremony.

He noted that most of the children at the facility are orphans of deceased soldiers, while others come from families struggling to meet basic needs.

“This orphanage is hosting almost 200 children—most of them children of the departed soldiers of South Sudan—and you have seen their situation. As a leader in this country, Her Excellency felt the need to assist them,” he added.

Adut’s office had earlier delivered food items to the same orphanage. The latest shipment includes additional food supplies and sleeping materials.

“To the public, Her Excellency remains committed, as mandated by His Excellency the President, to reach out to the most vulnerable. These children are among the categories under her special programs,” Kueth said.

He emphasised that the Senior Presidential Envoy aims not only to meet the children’s immediate needs but also to contribute to their long-term well-being.

“She is working around the clock to ensure these children are supported—to meet their needs, their education, and their nutrition,” he stated.

Kueth added that the office will maintain close contact with the orphanage to continue responding to emerging needs.

Since her appointment, Adut Kiir has provided humanitarian assistance to several orphanages, internally displaced persons (IDPs), and vulnerable households across the country.

“This is her commitment to the people of South Sudan in uplifting the children of our freedom fighters,” Kueth said, adding that Adut Kiir hopes to visit the orphanage soon to further assess and improve their living standards.
