Liverpool 0-3 Crystal Palace
Liverpool crashed out of the Carabao Cup after losing 3-0 to Crystal Palace at Anfield on Wednesday night.
The Reds rested quite a few regulars, as Virgil van Dijk, Mohamed Salah, Ibrahima Konate, Cody Gakpo and Ryan Gravenberch were left out of the squad.
Palace got the breakthrough in the final five minutes of the first half as Ismaila Sarr pounced on a loose ball in the box and fired into the bottom corner.
It was 2-0 on the stroke of halftime after Sarr completed his brace by combining with Yeremy Pino before calmly slotting home.
The Reds finished the game with ten men when substitute Amara Nallo was shown a straight with ten minutes left on the clock.
Palace rounded off the scoring with three minutes to play Pino capped a wonderful display with a lovely composed finish in the box.
Arsenal 2-0 Brighton and Hove Albion
Arsenal advanced to the quarter-finals with a 2-0 win over Brighton and Hove Albion.
After a goalless first, the Gunners took the lead in the 59th minute when Myles Lewis-Skelly did well Ethan Nwaneri, who sent a neat finish into the bottom corner.
Bukao Saka made the game safe with 15 minutes left on the clock by firing home from close range.
Swansea City 1-3 Manchester City
Manchester City booked their spot in the next round after a come-from-behind 3-1 win over Swansea City.
The Championship side took a surprising lead after just 12 minutes as Franco Baptista fired past James Trafford.
The Cityzens managed to restore parity six minutes before the interval through Jeremy Doku.
Pep Guardiola’s charges got the winning goal in the 77th minute, with the returning Omar Marmoush finding the back of the net before Rayan Cherki got a third goal in time added on.
Wolverhampton Wanderers 3-4 Chelsea
Chelsea advanced to the last eight after edging Wolverhampton Wanderers 4-3 at Molineux Stadium.
The Blues got off to the perfect start when Andrey Santos fired into the bottom corner from the edge of the box.
The lead was doubled ten minutes later through Tyrique George’s strike, before Estevao added Chelsea’s third goal before the halftime break.
Tolu Arokodare reduced the deficit for Wolves on 73 minutes while Chelsea were reduced to ten men on 86 minutes after Liam Delap was given his marching orders.
Jamie Gittens bagged the Blues’ fourth goal three minutes later, while Moller Wolfe netted another consolation for Wolves in second-half stoppage time.
