Somalia 0-3 Algeria
Algeria became the latest African side to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup after defeating Somalia 3-0 on Thursday evening.
The Desert Foxes went ahead through Mohamed Amoura on seven minutes before Riyad Mahrez doubled their lead in the 19th minute.
Amoura completed the scoring ten minutes after the halftime break for the Algerians, who will return to the World Cup for the first time since 2014.
Liberia 3-1 Namibia
Namibia failed to cement second spot in Group G after losing 2-0 to Liberia on Thursday evening.
The hosts raced into a two-goal lead courtesy of goals from Mamadu Bah and Ayouba Kosiah in the opening ten minutes.
Edward Ledlum bagged the third goal for Liberia on 81 minutes, before Dawid Ndeunyema grabbed a consolation for the Brave Warriors, who can now only wrap up second spot in the final qualifier next week.
Burundi 0-1 Kenya
Benni McCarthy’s Kenya made it back-to-back wins in the qualifiers after defeating Burundi 1-0 on Thursday evening.
The home side were reduced to ten players after just five minutes when Bonfils-Caleb Bimenyimana was shown a straight red card.
The Harambee Stars got the winning goal in the 72nd minute courtesy of a strike from Ryan Ogam.
Botswana 0-1 Uganda
Uganda cemented second spot in Group G with a 1-0 win away to Botswana on Thursday evening.
Veteran goalkeeper Denis Onyango was afforded a start in goal for the Ugandans.
Jude Ssemugabi got the game’s only goal in the 54th minute to seal maximum points for the Cranes.
Mozambique 1-2 Guinea
Mozambique’s hope of finishing second in Group G suffered a blow after losing 2-1 to Guinea.
Abdoul Karim Traore put the visitors ahead after just two minutes, before Mozambique restored parity in the 19th minute through Reinildo Mandava’s finish.
Troare would go on to have the final say as he completed his brace from the penalty spot on 54 minutes to seal a win for Guinea.
