Arsenal Restore 5-Point Lead, Liverpool Drop Points

Liverpool 1-1 Sunderland

Liverpool’s inconsistent form in the Premier League continued following a 1-1 draw against Sunderland at Anfield.

After a scoreless first half, Sunderland took the lead on 67 minutes thanks to Chemsdine Talbi’s superb strike from distance.

The Reds got back on level terms in the 82nd minutes when Florian Wirtz’s strike took a big deflection and sailed into the back of the net.

Arne Slot’s charges were unable to find a way to secure a winning goal, as they missed the chance to move into the top five.

Arsenal 2-0 Brentford

Arsenal restored their five-point lead at the top of the table with a 2-0 win over Brentford at the Emirates Stadium.

The Gunners broke the deadlock in 11th minute when Mikel Merino made it two goals in two games by nodding home Ben White’s cross.

However, the hosts had to wait until the 91st minute for the second goal as Bukayo Saka got his name on the score-sheet after being set up by Gabriel Martinelli.

There was some bad news for the Gunners, who lost Declan Rice to an injury.

Leeds United 3-1 Chelsea

Chelsea dropped to third spot on the league table following a 3-1 loss to Leeds United.

The home side took the lead in the sixth minute through Jaka Bijol, who rose above his marker to head home Anton Stach’s corner.

The lead was doubled three minutes before the halftime break courtesy of a lovely strike by Ao Tanaka from the edge of the box.

Pedro Neto pulled a goal back for the Blues on 50 minutes, but Dominic Calvert-Lewin restored the two-goal lead late on.

Burnley 0-1 Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace got back to winning ways in the Premier League with a 1-0 win away to Burnley.

The visitors got the breakthrough just before the halftime break when Daniel Munoz nodded home a cross from Marc Guehi.

Brighton & Hove Albion 3-4 Aston Villa

Aston Villa edged Brighton and Hove Albion in seven-goal thriller at the AMEX Stadium.

The hosts raced into a two-goal lead thanks to a strike from Jan Paul van Hecke and an Pau Torres own goal.

Villa, however, were able to hit back as Ollie Watkins bagged a brace in the final ten minutes of the first half.

Andre Onana and Donyell Malen completed the turnaround for Villa, while van Hecke bagged what proved to be a consolation for Brighton.

Wolverhampton Wanderers 0-1 Nottingham Forest

Wolverhampton Wanderers remain without a win in the league following a 1-0 loss to Nottingham Forest.

Igor Jesus netted the game’s only goal in the 78th minute, as Wolves remain rooted to the foot of the table.
