Barca Thrash Levante To Move Top Of LALIGA

FC Barcelona moved to the top of LALIGA with a 3-0 victory over Levante at the Camp Nou on Sunday evening.

The Catalan giants were given great incentive coming into the clash after rivals Real Madrid lost to Osasuna on Saturday evening.

Hansi Flick’s charges only needed five minutes to break the deadlock when Marc Bernal found the back of the net with a powerful strike that gave Levante goalkeeper Matt Ryan no chance.

The hosts continued to dominate as they went in search of more goals, with the lively Lamine Yamal carving out some space on the edge of the box before unleashing a rasping effort that sailed inches over the crossbar.

Barcelona did double their lead in the 32nd minute when Frenkie de Jong got on the end of a cross from Joao Cancelo and sent a fine finish into the bottom corner, as Levante had no answer for the opposition while they were unable to trouble goalkeeper Joan Garcia.

As a result, Levante made their first change at the start of the second half as Victor Garcia made way for Paco Cortes as they looked to get back on level terms.

Cortes nearly made the perfect impact for the visitors after the hour mark as his powerful strike from distance sailed inches wide of the upright, before Raphinha saw his goal-bound effort blocked at the other end minutes later.

Flick refreshed Barcelona’s side for the final 25 minutes by taking off Robert Lewandowski, Bernal and Dani Olmo for Ferran Torres, Fermin Lopez and the returning Pedri.

However, Barcelona went on to grab a third goal in the 81st minute as Fermin added his name to the score-sheet with a lovely left-footed strike from the edge of the box to seal a good victory for the home side.
