Brazil secured their first-ever win over African giants Senegal after claiming a 2-0 victory in London on Saturday evening.

Carlo Ancelotti opted to start Eder Militao at right-back while Vinicius Junior, Rodrygo and Matheus Cunha started in the attack.

The Lions of Teranga, meanwhile, went full strength for their line-up, which include Sadio Mane, Ismalia Sarr and Iliman Ndiaye.

The Brazilians were eager to return to winning way after surprise loss to Japan in the last international break.

Ancelotti’s men got the breakthrough on 28 minutes when Casemiro’s pass deflected into the path of Esteavo, who unleashed a first-time effort that sailed into the bottom corner.

The lead was doubled eight minutes later as Casemiro got his name on the score-sheet by getting on the end of Rodrygo’s free-kick and heading past goalkeeper Edouard Mendy.

Senegal, meanwhile, had to wait until the first-half stoppage time to carve out a chance as Sarr saw his curling effort brilliantly turned away by goalkeeper Ederson.

The second-half, however, failed to live up to the tempo of the first as both nations struggled to create big chances, especially after the substitutions were made.

Ancelotti’s charges managed to see out the closing stages of the second half with relative ease to return to winning ways on the international stage.

Senegal will now turn their attention to their next Friendly against Benni McCarthy’s Kenya.
