Brazil Star Fires Barca 7 Points Clear Of Madrid

FC Barcelona moved seven points clear at the top of the LALIGA table following a 2-0 win over Osasuna on Saturday night.

Marcus Rashford returned to the Catalan giants’ starting line-up after starting on the bench midweek, while Ferran Torres led the attack in place of Robert Lewandowksi.

Hansi Flick’s charges dominated proceedings in the early stages, with Rashford, Raphinha and Lamine Yamal seeing a lot of the ball in the opening 15 minutes while they also had a penalty appeal turned down.

The Catalan giants thought they get their reward on 24 minutes when Torres bagged his 12th goal of the campaign by nodding home a cross from Rashford, however the celebrations were cut short as the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) spotted an offside in the build up.

While Osasuna failed to carve out any chances, the home side went close to putting themselves ahead in the final ten minutes but Torres’ overhead-kick sailed inches wide of the upright.

Flick’s men carried that momentum into the second period but had to wait until the 63rd minute for a big chance when Pau Cubarsi was picked out in the box from a cross, but the defender sent his over the crossbar from close range.

Barcelona eventually got their reward on 70 minutes when Raphinha collected a pass from Pedri before unleashing a powerful strike that sailed into the far corner for his fourth league goal of the campaign.

The Catalan giants made the points safe with four minutes left on the clock as Raphinha completed his brace with a composed finish in the box.
