Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has reportedly made a final call on his future with the Red Devils.

Speculation had grown over whether or not Fernandes would leave Man Utd ahead of the 2025/26 season after there had been strong interest from the Saudi Pro League during the transfer window.

Recent reports from TalkSport revealed that Fernandes would at least remain at Old Trafford until the end of the season, as the 31-year-old is unlikely to leave in January.

Fernandes’ stance has reportedly not changed about leaving the Premier League side just six months before the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The ex-Sporting CP star was the subject of intense interest from Neymar’s former side, Al Hilal, while Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr were also reportedly interested in signing the midfielder.

The 84-capped Portugal international was reportedly tempted by the offer to double his salary in Saudi Arabia, where he would have commanded a £100 million (R2,2 billion) fee.

However, with Fernandes still contracted with the Red Devils until 2027, he will still command a big fee, should he leave in 2026, with Saudi officials reportedly still in touch with his camp for a move at the end of the season.

For now, Fernandes remains focused on his national team duties. The former Udinese midfielder was called up to Portugal’s squad to face the Republic of Ireland and Hungary.

Victory for the Euro 2016 winners against the Irish on Saturday evening at the Estadio Jose Alvalade would put them in pole position to top UEFA’s Group F, while a win against Hungary on Tuesday evening means qualification for the 2026 World Cup can be confirmed before the November international break.
