Mamelodi Sundowns coach Miguel Cardoso.
Mamelodi Sundowns coach Miguel Cardoso feels that it’s shame the way the club is being treated ahead of their CAF Champions League quarterfinal clash against Stade Malien on Friday.
The comment has been triggered by the scheduling of their local matches, which saw them playing against Orbit College on Tuesday, just three days before their first leg Champions League tie against the Malien club at Loftus Stadium.

Cardoso went on to give examples about how other clubs in the Champions League have had adequate time to prepare for their quarterfinal clashes without having to worry about playing domestic matches.
“For sure, I believe that there is people who are happy because it’s raining. Becuase after the dark night we had two days ago in Rustenburg, yesterday we also had a dark night with ghosts around Johannesburg, at least it seems so, for the ones who want to read between the lines. But I just want to read you something that can be interesting for you to know.

“Sundowns, we played two days ago and we are going to play tomorrow with three days time. Between the two legs, we are going to play Marumo Gallants. I don’t know if you have the way to make this exercise, but from all the seven teams besides us in this competition (Champions League), no one has matches between the two legs. Stade Malien had nine days to prepare for this match and will not play between the two legs of the competition. Esperance have seven days to prepare the match against AL Ahly and they don’t play between the two legs. Al Ahly have six days to prepare and they don’t play between the two legs. AS FAR has six days to prepare for their match and they don’t play between the two legs. Pyramids five days to prepare and they don’t play between the two legs. Berkane six days and they don’t play between legs. AL Hilal 12 days, they don’t play between matches.
“I think it’s absolutely a shame what’s happening in South Africa and how Sundowns is being. It’s not normal. We feel we are being mistreated.”
