Bradley Carnell has led the Philadelphia Union to an unwanted record that the club has not achieved in 14 years.
Philadelphia Union will face Mexican outfit Club America in the CONCACAF Champions Cup Round of 16, which could take some much-needed pressure off the team’s league campaign…

The Union have started the season with three successive defeats, losing 1-0 to DC United in the season opener, 2-1 to New York City in their second game and a 1-0 defeat to San Jose Earthquakes.
According to PHL Sports Nation, Carnell’s side has made their worst start to a season since 2012, when they finished 15th out of 19 teams.
The Union have also failed to score from open play this season, raising concerns about Carnell’s second-season record.
The 49-year-old led his former team, St Louis City, to the top of the Western Conference in 2023 before a steep decline in 2024 that saw Carnell dismissed before the end of the season.
Last season, Carnell led Philadelphia to the Supporters’ Shield (awarded to the team with the best regular season record), while he also scooped the MLS Coach of the Year award.
Speaking after the defeat to San Jose, Carnell said he remains confident that his team will turn it around in the league.
“One thing I’ve learnt over so many years in this is that you never want to get those emotions too high and you never want to get those emotions too low because things can change in a heartbeat,” Carnell said.

“You go on a skip of a couple of games, and then you win a couple of games. In a league of parity, each team has their way in certain moments of the season. I’m very sure that in the near future, we will turn things around,” he concluded.
