Chiefs Initiate Talks To Tie Down Key Star

Brandon Petersen contract renewal talks have started with Kaizer Chiefs

With Brandon Petersen’s current contract approaching its final year, the Siya crew can reveal that Kaizer Chiefs have opened discussions aimed at securing the services of their first-choice goalkeeper beyond the end of the season.

Petersen’s existing deal with the Soweto giants is set to expire on 30 June 2026, although the club retains a one-year option.

His agent, Glyn Binkin, has confirmed to Soccer Laduma that talks are already underway between the relevant parties regarding a fresh contract.

Speaking in an exclusive interview, Binkin revealed that while Chiefs are protected by the option clause, negotiations are focused on a longer-term agreement.

“In terms of Brandon (Petersen), we are in discussions with them,” Binkin told the Siya crew.

“They have an option (clause) anyway on the existing contract.

“So it’s finishing on 30th June 2026, but they have an option for a year. But we are speaking about a new contract for him anyway,” Binkin told Soccer Laduma.

Petersen has established himself as Amakhosi’s preferred choice between the posts and remains a key figure in the club’s plans as they look to build stability heading into the upcoming campaign.
