Nathan Garrow during the FIFA African Asian Pacific Playoff 2025 match between Pyramids and Auckland City FC
A highly promising young goalkeeper who featured at the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup in the United States is eyeing a return to South Africa – with ambitions of playing in the PSL and ultimately representing Bafana Bafana.
Nathan Garrow, a 20-year-old shot-stopper born in South Africa, has emerged as a potential recruit for local clubs after making contact about restarting his career in his country of birth. According to those close to the player, the move is motivated by both personal and professional reasons, with the goalkeeper having recently completed his studies and expressing a desire to reconnect with family based in Cape Town.

“Yes, a promising young player, born in South Africa, who has already proven his ability on the international stage has contacted me, he wants to return to his country of birth to continue his professional career. He has recently completed his studies and has family in Cape Town and believes the PSL is a good league for him to display his talents,” the player’s representative Shawn Bester told the Siya crew.
Garrow attracted global attention during the 2025 Club World Cup where he started both of Auckland City FC’s group-stage matches against European giants Benfica and South American powerhouse Boca Juniors.
Despite Auckland City not progressing beyond the group phase, the young goalkeeper delivered standout performances.
“Auckland City FC did not progress out of the group stages but Nathan at only 20 years old, was ranked as one of the Top 10 Performing Players in the FIFA Club World Cup, this was his biggest achievement to date and especially since he was the only goalkeeper ranked amongst all the super star outfield players,” Bester said.
Such recognition on one of world football’s biggest stages has strengthened Garrow’s belief that the PSL, increasingly competitive and globally visible, could be the ideal platform for the next phase of his development.
The player has already mapped out his timeline and is prepared to make the move imminently.

“He wants to be in South Africa in the new year and if any clubs are interested in strengthening their squad with a goalkeeper of exceptional potential, Nathan is available to discuss possibilities,” confirmed Bester.
With his Club World Cup pedigree, youth on his side, and a clear desire to commit to South African football, Garrow is set to become a name to watch in the upcoming transfer window, and possibly a long-term prospect for Bafana Bafana.
