Walter Bwalya parts ways with Cape Town City
Cape Town City appear to be reshaping their squad during the January transfer window, with Siya sources indicating that the club has parted ways with striker Walter Bwalya.
Bwalya, a former Al Ahly striker, joined City with expectations of bolstering their attacking options but struggled to cement a regular place in the side as the season progressed.
An insider close to the club has revealed to Soccer Laduma that the DRC international has been released with immediate effect, following a decision by the club to terminate his contract.
According to the source, City have already formally notified the PSL of their decision, clearing the way for recent squad adjustments.
“It appears that CT City have released Walter Bwalya who wanted to get back to top-flight football in North Africa.
“Bwalya didn’t quite fit into the playing style of Cape Town City and lost favour to Therlo (Moosa). They sent the termination letter to the PSL late yesterday (Tuesday), hence the addition of Dzenan,” the source observed.
Meanwhile, another source close to the club has indicated that further changes could be imminent, with young striker Jody Ah Shene potentially edging closer to a move abroad. The forward recently spent time on trial with Belgian outfit Royal Antwerp FC during the Christmas break, and indications are that a European switch could be on the cards.
City have already brought in experienced reinforcements this window as they push to strengthen their squad, and more movement is expected as the transfer period unfolds.
