With calls from Kaizer Chiefs supporters for the club to consider using Dobsonville Stadium as one of their home venues in the PSL, statistics reveal that Dobsonville can be a happy hunting ground for The Glamour Boys.
Chiefs used Dobsonville Stadium as an alternative home venue for the first time since February 2022, when they hosted TS Galaxy and played to a goalless stalemate, in their CAF Confederation Cup second preliminary round, second-leg, where they thrashed AS Simba 3-1 and went through to the group stages for the first time in their history.

The large crowd that filled the stadium made Amakhosi supporters to yearn for such home games at the same stadium, which is easily accessible to the community of Soweto.
There are arguments that Dobsonville Stadium could make for a better football atmosphere, than at FNB Stadium, which at times is too large especially for games against the so-called small teams.
On the playing side, Chiefs ironically produced one of their better performances this season, with players seemingly spurned on by the crowd, which is also a little bit closer to the pitch.
From the last ten games Amakhosi played at Dobsonville Stadium as the home team, in instances where FNB Stadium was not available, The Glamour Boys have had an upped hand, unbeaten in nine out of the last ten and with their loss (2-1) coming against rivals Mamelodi Sundowns in April 2021 in the league.
Chiefs frequented Dobsonville Stadium between 2020 and 2022 during Covid-19 restrictions and unavailability of FNB Stadium.

From their last ten matches as the home team at the former home of Moroka Swallows, the Soweto giants won six matches and drew three, with a winning rate of 60 percent.
The Glamour Boys, within the same period also kept six clean-sheets, scoring 15 goals and conceded only six goals, with those stats showing that Chiefs can make Dobsonville Stadium a fortress, should they play their home games in Soweto more frequently.
