The ex-Orlando Pirates forward enjoyed a strong Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) with two goals and two assists in four games, and returned to club action following South Africa’s round of 16 elimination at the hands of Cameroon.

He featured in Burnley’s 2-2 draw against Manchester United just three days after AFCON duties, coming on as a 76th-minute substitute.

The 25-year-old was expected to get a few minutes in Burnley’s third-round FA Cup tie against English Championship side Millwall.

While the Clarets walked away as 5-1 winners, Foster was surprisingly left out of the matchday squad when he might have been expected to continue his hot form from the AFCON.

According to Burnley Express, Parker revealed that the former Monaco striker was not rested but was battling with sickness.

No, he wasn’t well,” the Englishman said. “He fell ill yesterday, so he was out of the squad and didn’t make it today due to illness,” he continued.

With no timeline placed on his illness, Parker will be hoping the South African will be available for selection when Burnley travel to Anfield to face defending champions Liverpool.
