Halftime: Sekhukhune United 0-0 Mamelodi Sundowns
Date: 27 January 2026
Venue: Peter Mokaba Stadium
Sundowns coach Miguel Cardoso made 10 changes from the draw in the CAF Champions League on Friday, as goalkeeper Denis Onynago, Kegan Johannes, Reisinho, Iqraam Rayners, Brayan Leon and Jayden Adams were recalled while new signing Khulumani Ndamane was handed his debut.
The Brazilians dominated possession in the early stages of the first half but there was no clear attacking threat despite both Rayners and Leon playing upfront, with the Sekhukhune defence dealing with every attempt in and around the 18-yard area.
The visitors had to wait until the 30-minute mark for their first clear opening at the Sekhukhue goal as Arthur Sales raced clear down the right flank before picking out Rayners in the box, however the striker’s first-time effort sailed wide of Renaldo Leaner’s upright.
Sekhukhune, meanwhile, adopted a similar defensive approach to their goalless draw against Orlando Pirates over the weekend and they had Leaner to thank for keeping the visiting side at bay as the goalkeeper produced a good save with his foot keep out Leon’s strike in the box just before the halftime break.
Here’s how they lined up:
Sekhukhune United: Leaner, Ndlovu, Letlapa, Grobler, Cardoso, Mncube, Phiri, Matsimbi, Monare, Mkhize, Langa
Subs: Nsabata, Tlaka, Tshibwabwa, Malivha, Mokoena, Makgalwa, Mampuru, Mojela, Boyeli
Mamelodi Sundowns: Onyango, Johannes, Ndamane, Lunga, Adams, Reisinho, Morena, Mkhulise, Sales, Rayners, Leon
Subs: Pieterse, Cupido, Mudau, Modiba, Allende, Santos, Matthews, Letlhaku, Shalulile
