Stellenbosch FC head coach Gavin Hunt was impressed with Wonderboy Makhubu’s display against Kaizer Chiefs in the Nedbank Cup on Wednesday night.
The Western Cape outfit got back to winning ways after defeating Chiefs 2-1 in the first round of the Nedbank Cup.

Makhubu was given the nod upfront as Tshegofatso Mabasa was not available on the day and Hunt waxed lyrical about his January signing.
“Firstly, great performance, really tug in performance, I was disappointed we didn’t make it 3-1 there. They had chances because that’s what your goalkeeper is there for, it was a real cup tie on a very difficult pitch, hard to play and bumpy,” Hunt told SuperSport after the game.
“But excellent, I want to commend everybody, I thought Wonderboy Makhubu was outstanding, proper number nine footballer, something we really need and so he is coming up tonight so fair play.
“But to everybody, Titus, Jabaar, everybody in midfield it was important, trying to build something from here,” added the former Chiefs boss.
Stellenbosch will now turn their attention to Sunday’s CAF Confederation Cup tie against Otoho d’Oyo.
