With Rulani Mokwena’s MC Alger set to face Mamelodi Sundowns in CAF Champions League group stages, Soccer Laduma looks at the comparison between the two sides in terms of their market valuations.
Not much is known about the qualities that Alger possesses, at least when it comes to their track record on the continent and Mokwena, as a former Sundowns coach would dominate the headlines particularly ahead of matches against his former side in Group C.

The Brazilians are not only highly-rated on their style of play and the quality of players they have but that reputation is mirrored with how valuable their players are, one of the most expensively assembled squads on the continent.
Relatively new signing Nuno Santos became the highest-valued player at Masandawana, as his arrival coincided with the exit of Lucas Ribeiro Costa, with the Portuguese midfielder valued at €2,5 million (R50m) by transfer website Transfermarkt.
Coming close to Santos, in the highest-valued players bracket at Sundowns is striker Iqraam Rayners, rated €2,4 million (R48m), followed by Teboho Mokoena and Marcelo Allende, both valued at €2,3 million (R46m).
The total value of the Masandawana squad is €33,15 million (R657 m), one of the most highly-valued teams on the continent.
In comparison, The Green and Reds do not come close, with their total squad valuation just under three times less than that of the Tshwane giants, at €11,53 million (R230 m).
