Taking to her Instagram account, Natasha Thahane posted a video capturing cherished moments with her late grandmother, accompanied by a deeply personal message describing the pain her family is enduring.
The actress said her grandmother passed away while the family was still making preparations for her uncle’s funeral, compounding the grief they were already experiencing.
“It has been an incredibly difficult time for our family. 🕊️ On Sunday, we lost my uncle. Just a few days later, on Wednesday, we lost my grandmother too.
“She Was Still Guiding Me”
Natasha Thahane recalled spending time with her grandmother on the day she died, including a quiet moment while she was braiding her hair.
She said her grandmother insisted on simple cornrows because they would take less time, a detail the actress described as emblematic of her caring and practical nature.
Despite her condition, Thahane said her grandmother remained calm, engaging in conversation, laughing, and asking about family members who were nearby.
Final Moments Spent With Family
The actress revealed that her grandmother spoke about her own funeral arrangements while they were busy planning her uncle’s burial, a conversation that took the family by surprise.
She said her grandmother waited until close relatives had returned and until she had finished braiding her hair before passing away peacefully in their presence.
“She kept asking when my little sister and my cousins were coming back from the car wash. We talked. We laughed. She was FINE! She waited for my cousins, my sister, and for me to finish braiding my hair. And then everything happened so fast. She passed away in our hands. Lala Ntombi Endala ❤️ ,” Natasha Thahane wrote.
Remembering a Life of Love and Wisdom
Thahane ended her tribute by thanking her grandmother for the wisdom, love and lessons she shared. She also reflected on a recent trip they took together to Thailand, describing it as a treasured memory that now brings her comfort.
“Thank you for the wisdom, the love, and the lessons you gave so freely. In July, we travelled to Thailand, a dream made possible by the Garnier team. What a beautiful time we had. I take peace in knowing that she is now resting. They both did me dirty. It all hasn’t sunk. Lord, please give us strength.”
