Sundowns controlled most of the first half and nearly took the lead after 20 minutes. A corner was met by Khulumani Ndamane, whose strong header forced Darren Johnson into a solid save.
There was a setback for the visitors just after the half-hour mark when Thapelo Morena picked up an injury and had to be replaced by Nuno Santos, who came off the bench.

FIRST HALF ACTION
AmaZulu’s best chance of the first half came late on. Thando Ngwenya found space in the box and got his shot away, but Ronwen Williams made a good save to keep the score level at the break.
The second half followed a similar pattern. Sundowns had more of the ball but struggled to create clear chances in the box. Matthews and Leon both tried their luck from distance as the visitors searched for a breakthrough.
Arthur Zwane made the first changes after 65 minutes, bringing on Bayanda Zulu and Mondli Mbanjwa for Hendrick Ekstein and Luyolo Slatsha. Sundowns responded shortly after by introducing Iqraam Rayners for Matthews.

With 20 minutes remaining, Leon had a decent opportunity inside the area, but Johnson was again equal to it.
The breakthrough finally came with six minutes left. Substitute Marcelo Allende found space in the box and finished from close range to secure the win.
