The story
Bafana Bafana youngster Mbekezeli Mbokazi has expressed his excitement after officially arriving in the United States to begin his journey with Major League Soccer side Chicago Fire.
The club confirmed his arrival on social media, sharing clips of the defender joining the squad as they continue their pre-season camp in Florida. Mbokazi, affectionately known as “TLB,’ flew out over the weekend and appeared in high spirits as he linked up with his new teammates for the first time.
The Hluhluwe-born defender was also seen warmly greeting his new head coach, Gregg Berhalter, who doubles as Chicago Fire’s Director of Football.
In a separate video, Mbokazi delivered a message to supporters, speaking in isiZulu as he thanked them for their well-wishes ahead of his move to the US. He also offered a brief update on how he is settling into life at the club, signalling a positive start to his new chapter abroad.
