Mokwena has enjoyed a strong start to his MC Alger career, having lost just once in 13 games since taking over ahead of the 2025/26 season.
The South African will now gear up for his first game against his former side, Mamelodi Sundowns, as he looks to bounce back from defeat to Al-Hilal in the first game.
During an interview with journalist Maher Mezahi, Mokwena delved into his managerial experience in Algeria, his upcoming game against Mamelodi Sundowns and his coaching style and philosophy.
The 38-year-old was asked to speak about his favourite teams to watch outside of Africa, and he revealed which European teams he has kept an eye on this season.
“I’m watching Bayern Munich a lot at the moment because I’m trying to study them and see why they’ve gone so many games unbeaten,” Mokwena told Mezahi
“I want to see why they are such a problem for the big teams. It will be interesting to see their next game against Arsenal because [Mikel] Arteta is someone who is also a very, very good coach,” the MC Alger boss added.
The former Wydad AC manager added two more former European champions to the list of teams he enjoys watching.

“I watch a lot of Bayern, Man City and Paris Saint-Germain (PSG). To study, I watch Arsenal to study their games, their schemes and their principles,” he added.
