Statement:

Durban City Football Club can confirm that Head Coach Gavin Hunt has left the Club by mutual consent.

The decision follows a review of the footballing strategy conducted by the Board of Directors, which concluded a new approach is required to achieve the Club’s objectives.

Club Chairman Farook Kadodia stated, “This was a mutual decision, taken with the Club’s best interests at heart. I’d like to thank Gavin personally for his hard work and dedication, and we all wish him well for the future.”

Assistant Coach Pitso Dlada will take charge of the first team on an interim basis, starting with Wednesday’s fixture against Orbit College.

“It is now the right time for change as we look to build a competitive side with the future in mind,” Kadodia added.

The Club will utilise the upcoming break during the Africa Cup of Nations to conduct its appointment process for a permanent successor.

This timeline is designed to allow the new Head Coach a clear period to prepare the squad for the second half of the season.
