Orbit College are reportedly eyeing Sanele Hlongwane
With the January transfer window now open, clubs across the Betway Premiership are actively looking to reinforce their squads, and Orbit College are believed to be casting an eye on a promising young defender from KwaZulu-Natal.
Siya sources indicate that the North West–based outfit has been monitoring 18-year-old left back Sanele Hlongwane, with initial enquiries understood to have been made during the recent Harrismith Mvelase Soccer Tournament.
The competition, which kicked off in December and concluded with its finals over the past weekend, served as a scouting platform for several clubs.
According to an insider close to the player, Hlongwane caught the attention of Orbit College scouts with his energetic displays from the left flank.
“They call him ‘Going Up’. The boy can overlap and come back with the same pace. His name is Sanele Hlongwane. He is 18 years old,” the source revealed to Soccer Laduma.
Hlongwane currently turns out for local side Pholani FC in Harrismith, where his consistent performances are believed to have sparked interest from the newly promoted Premiership side.
Orbit College, who earned promotion to the Betway Premiership via the Motsepe Foundation Championship play-offs at the end of last season, find themselves in 13th position on the log. They have collected 13 points from 14 matches, with four wins, one draw and nine defeats to date.
As they prepare for the second half of the campaign, Orbit College are expected to explore ways of bolstering their squad as they look to secure their top-flight status, with young talents such as Hlongwane potentially fitting into their long-term plans.
