Burnley secured an impressive away draw to Champions League-chasing Chelsea, even though the hosts were reduced to 10 men.
Burnley striker Zian Flemming popped up with a stoppage-time equaliser to ensure the Clarets remain unbeaten in their last two games.
The result was more impressive considering Parker was without several names in his team, including Lyle Foster.
Parker explained that Foster, Kyle Walker, Lesley Ugochukwu and Bashir Humphreys were the players who were bogged down with illness on the eve of the game, Burnley Express reported.
The illness was enough for Foster to miss the game entirely, while Walker and Ugochukwu were both withdrawn at half-time.
“There’s been some illness [including Foster]. Lesley [Ugochukwu] as well, he missed training on Thursday due to it,” the Englishman said.
“So, there’s been a little bit of illness in the camp, Bash [Humphreys] as well reported last night at a hotel that he was struggling. So, there has been a little bit of that, but we got through it,” he added.
“He [Walker] was struggling a little bit with his stomach, so we decided that it was best to bring him off.”
It was a missed opportunity for Burnley in their bid to survive relegation, while on a personal note, it would have been a great opportunity for Foster to add to his three league goals this season.
