Pro20 Clash of Champions and a Fierce Battle to Escape the Basement

The 2025/2026 CSA Women’s Pro20 Series enters a significant phase this weekend, with the competitive landscape already split into two tiers: the untouchable leaders and the desperate mid-table scramblers.

Sunday’s double-header features two matches that will help shape the trajectory of the rest of the season: a high-stakes clash between the reigning champions and their nearest challengers, and a crucial battle at the bottom to avoid being cast adrift.

Western Province Women vs. Hollywoodbets Dolphins

Sunday, November 16, 1:30 PM IST (Match 10, Venue TBA)

This fixture is the definitive stress test of the early season. Western Province enters the match as the league’s statistical powerhouse, maintaining a perfect 3-0 record and a massive Net Run Rate of +2.650.

That dominance of today’s hosts is intrinsically linked to the blazing form of opener Faye Tunnicliffe, who leads all batting categories, having scored the series’ only century—a blistering 110*. A victory here would solidify Province’s top seeding position for the foreseeable future.

Standing in their way are the Hollywoodbets Dolphins, who currently hold third place with a 2-1 record. While successful in points accumulation, their single heavy loss means they carry a negative NRR of −0.244. This match is very important for the Dolphins, offering an immediate chance to restore their prospects as title contenders rather than mid-table scramblers.

The central contest will be whether the Dolphins’ bowling unit can devise a strategy to neutralise the Tunnicliffe threat, a challenge no team has successfully navigated yet. If WP secures another dominant victory, the pressure on the Dolphins will intensify, making the race for the remaining playoff spots considerably tighter.

South Western Districts Women vs. North West Women

Sunday, November 16, 2:30 PM IST (Match 11, Recreation Ground, Oudtshoorn)

This bottom-of-the-table contest is a desperate affair, featuring two of three teams, also including Titans Women, to register a win (NW 2 points, SWD 0 points), while South Western Districts desperately needs a victory, having lost all three of their matches.

Their campaign has been defined by the remarkable individual bowling of captain Zintle Kula, who achieved the Best Figures of the series with a stunning 5/21 against Western Province. However, Kula’s heroics have been consistently nullified by a struggling batting line-up, which failed to chase down even a modest total of 123 in their loss to WP.

For SWD, this home match at the Recreation Ground is their most realistic opportunity to secure their first points and prevent Kula’s brilliance from being continually wasted. North West is equally under pressure, holding a severely negative NRR. The winner will gain a crucial psychological and statistical edge, avoiding anchoring the table heading into the demanding mid-season phase.

The outcomes on Sunday will dictate whether the Pro20 series remains a two-horse race dominated by Western Province and the Lions (who also remain 3-0), or if the mid-table can muster the collective strength required to close the gap.
