Los Blancos picked up wins against Alaves in LALIGA and Talavera in the Copa Del Rey, Alonso’s job is by no means safe, and there is still room for much improvement.
According to Spanish outlet Marca, Alonso’s credit is rock bottom, and the club remains in doubt over his future, as they believe the football is not improving and his project is not making any progress.
Ahead of Real Madrid’s clash against Sevilla, it will be a period of reflection for the club board, and Alonso will need a strong performance to get the support of the higher-ups again.
Should he emerge with a victory against Sevilla, the Spanish Super Cup clash against Atletico Madrid in January will likely be the next best test for him, as he looks to secure his first trophy for his former playing side.
There had been reports that the dressing room was split over the manager, and his public spat with Vinicius Junior did not help the mood around the club.
However, while there have been improvements, they do not believe that Alonso’s tactics are working, and the team is losing its identity.
The former Liverpool star is trying to get the situation back ont he right track, but there is an overwhelming feeling that he has lost the strength and aura he had when he first arrived.
Despite the alleged internal struggles, Real Madrid have still had a strong season. The club are currently second in LALIGA with 39 points, four behind Barcelona.
