Following a slow start to life in Spain after his much-publicised move from Mamelodi Sundowns, Ribeiro Costa has settled in nicely and proven a key asset to Cultural Leonesa.

The Brazilian has scored three goals and added a solitary assist in 12 games for the Spanish second division side, and he has drawn praise from his coaches for his impact.

According to Diario De Leon, the former Mamelodi Sundowns star is pushing hard to be fit for their clash against Las Palmas at the weekend.

“We know the impact Lucas is having on us,” Cultural Leionesa head coach Cuco Ziganda said. “He’s improving every day, repeating more plays and becoming more decisive,” Ziganda added.

However, the club will take a cautious approach to his injury as it is still a long season ahead.

“Ribeiro’s injury isn’t too serious, and we didn’t want to take any risks. If he’s not available for Wednesday’s Copa del Rey match against Levante, he’ll be ready for Saturday because we don’t want to risk him,” the coach added.
