Rulani’s MC Alger Qualify For CAF CL Group Stage

MC Alger 0-0 Colombe (1-1 aggregate)

Rulani Mokwena’s MC Alger qualified for the CAF Champions League group stage after a goalless draw against Colombe on Sunday night.

The Algerian had the advantage coming into the second leg after securing an away goal during their 1-1 draw last weekend.

The away goal did the trick in the tie as the two sides could not be separated in the second leg in Algiers.

Ethiopian Insurance 1-1 Pyramids FC

Defending champions Pyramids FC and Ethiopian Insurance played to a 1-1 draw in the first leg of their second preliminary round tie.

The visitors got off to the perfect start when Fiston Mayele opened the scoring in the 11th minute.

However, Insurance managed to give themselves a lifeline thanks to an 89th minute strike from Biruk Mulugeta.

The second leg will take place on Thursday.

Simba 0-0 Nsingizini Hotspurs (3-0 aggregate)

Simba advanced to the group stage phase following a goalless draw in the second leg on Sunday afternoon.

Tanzanian outfit entered the second leg with a 3-0 advantage after last week’s impressive display, but the goalless draw was enough to get the job done.

Esperance 3-0 Rahimo (4-0 aggregate)

Esperance booked their spot in the group stages after thrashing Burkina Faso outfit Rahimo 3-0 on Sunday.

The Tunisian, who were leading 1-0 on aggregate, took the lead in the 33rd minute courtesy of a strike from Hamza Jelassi.

Florian Danho doubled the lead six minutes after the interval, before Achref Jabri sealed the win in the 72nd minute.
