Liverpool 2-0 Brighton and Hove Albion

Liverpool returned to winning ways in the Premier League with a 2-0 win over Brighton and Hove Albion at Anfield.

Mohamed Salah was back in the Reds squad after talks with coach Arne Slot, but he was named on the bench for a fourth league game in the row.

The Reds got off to the perfect start when Hugo Ekitike bagged his third goal on two league games after finding the back of the net after just 42 seconds.

Salah made his return earlier than expected when he replaced Joe Gomez, who was forced off with an injury on 25 minutes.

The Reds were able to double their lead on the hour mark when Ekitike rose above his marker to nod home Salah’s corner.

With the assist, Salah has broken Wayne Rooney’s Premier League record for most goal contributions (277) for one club.

Chelsea 2-0 Everton

Chelsea moved back into fourth spot after defeating Everton 2-0 at Stamford Bridge on Saturday evening.

David Moyes’ charges were dealt a blow after just 16 minutes when star midfielder Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall was forced off with an injury.

The Blues took the lead in the 21st minute when Cole Palmer collected a pass from Malo Gusto before calmly slotting home from close range.

The lead was doubled on the stroke of halftime courtesy of a first-time strike from Gusto, with Pedro Neto picking up the assist.
