Payment Dates for January 2026
According to the agency, Older Persons’ Grants will start on Tuesday, 6 January, Disability Grants on Wednesday, 7 January, and children’s grants on Thursday, 8 January.
Beneficiaries are reminded to ensure that their personal information is up to date to avoid disruptions.
Biometric Verification to Prevent Fraud
SASSA emphasized the importance of biometric verification as a security measure to protect social grants from fraud.
Beneficiaries’ unique biological traits, such as fingerprints or facial features, are verified against records held by the Department of Home Affairs.
“This process helps prevent identity theft, fraud, and the misuse of social assistance,” the agency said, stressing that it ensures grants reach the intended recipients.

SASSA also reminded applicants about COVID-19 SRD payments for December 2025, which ran from 19 to 24 December.
The agency explained that applications may be declined if employment or another source of income is detected through external databases, including banks.
Applicants who believe their applications were unfairly rejected are encouraged to use the appeals process, ensuring that all submitted information is accurate.
Official Channels and Misinformation Warning
The agency urged beneficiaries to rely only on official SASSA communication channels for information about payment dates and verification requirements.
It warned against misinformation circulating on social media, particularly regarding payment schedules and biometric checks.
